Task 1B- Diptych with object

Art;

 Both these images were shot inside the Lister building. The first image was shot on a diagonal pointing upwards right. I chose to shoot this way because I wanted to include all the bright colours to make the image stand out. The other reason I chose to shoot at this angle was the fact that the sun was up in the right top corner. Because of this, I knew that if I shot upwards into the sun, it would illuminate the colours even more, This second image however was shot completely different. As we had to focus on the location and it was possible to include my object with my location, I decided that I was going to zoom in on a particular area of the glass window so it would still have colour but also be very clear that an object was added. I chose this particular area of the glass as the purple was very much transparent and I liked the look of being able to see the branches of the trees through the glass as my object is also a part of nature. However, I think the light of the glass takes away from the object. To solve this I could easily re-shoot with adding a little artificial light onto the object to lighten it up a bit. All in all, I do like my images as I think they display, in my opinion, an exceptional composition of their category, which is art.

Unit 30-

Diptych;

First of all, open photoshop, go to file and click open.

When this appears, simply choose the picture you want to use and open the image.

Then, select image and then image size.

After this, simply change the centimetres into inches.

Then change the width to 6. The length should automatically change to 4.5 however, if it doesnt, just change it. Then press ok.

After the image has been shrunk down, go ahead and click image again but this time click on canvas size.

Again, change the centimetres into inches. The width should change to 6 and the length should change to 4.5 automatically but if it doesn't, just go ahead and change it.

Then go to the square with the arrows and click on the left hand arrow in the middle, this will change the position of the arrows.

Then go back to the width and change it to 12. This will give a white square next to your image for your next picture.

Then go back to file and click open.

Chose you second picture and open it.

Repeat the same step as before. Image and then image size.

Again, repeat the previous steps. Centimetres to inches, 6 and 4.5 and then press ok. However, we do not change the canvas size of this image.

Instead, grab the picture by just clicking and holding down, and drag it into the other picture.

Position the second image directly into the white blank space and your diptych is completed.

Contact print;

Click the start button, then select the adobe master collection CS6 and open bridge.

Once there, select the folder that your images are in. The folders are located in the small triangle.

Located in the same area as your folders were, your images will appear. Click on you first image in the top left hand corner. Drag the arrow along all the images; still keeping your finger down.

This will cause the images to be highlighted yellow.

When you release the mouse, the images will slide into the bigger rectangle. On the right hand side, there will be a settings panel. On this you will only have to change the paper to intonational; if it isn't already-

- Then, change the columns to 2 and the rows to 5. By doing this, it allows the images to stay a decent size but without wasting a lot of paper.

 After this, preview the image.

By clicking the refresh preview button, it shows you how the images will be saved and printed. If you're happy with the way your contact print looks, simply save and print!

Unit 4 & 32-

Colour popping;

Open your selected image then click layer and press duplicate layer. This will make a layer of your background that you will be able to edit.

 After that, click image, adjustments, and desaturate. This makes the image black and white,

You will now need to create a layer mask. To do this, click layer, layer mask and then reveal all.

Click the rubber tool and start erasing the selected area of colour.

If you slip out of the lines then you can just click the little arrows in the bottom left hand corner located at the top of the black and white boxes. This switches the eraser so it deletes colour instead of creating it.

When you're finished, save and you're done!

Joiners;

To start off with, create a folder for all your images. Then within that folder, create another folder and name it 'resized.'

First of all, open photoshop. Then click image, open and select the images you're using for your joiners. (The pictures will be in the folder you just created.)

select all of the images and then press open/ok. This will open all of the images selected, all together.

Once the images are opened, we will be resizing them however, instead of doing them one by one, record the first resizing and then batch onto the other images. To do this, click on the last arrow on the side tab in the top right hand corner and then click new action.

Name the action, action 1 (if not already) and then press record. This will record everything you do.

click image, and then image size.

If the image is portrait, resize the height to 8. if its landscape, resize the width to 8. Change the resolution to 72 and then press ok.

save the image to the resize folder and then make the image the best quality. (12)

Close the image and then stop the recording by pressing the stop button.

click file - automate - batch.

for the first file, click the folder your original images are in.

Then for the second folder, click where the resized images will go.

After you press ok, the images will automatically resize, save and close into the folders you've selected. Wait until they've finished and then move onto the next step.
(open all the resized images)

Open - New

select international paper and then change the size to A3.

drag the paper out of the columns bar and then drag the images onto the paper.

when transferring the images onto the paper, roughly place them in the correct places. This will make it a lot easier for you in the long run.

Once you have transferred all the images, close them and then drag the paper back into the column.

Because the joiner is way to far to the top left, I want to move the image all together as one. To do this I simply press ctrl and then click all the layers on the right hand side.

This will select all the images to enable to move them together.

Then simply click anywhere on the image and centre it to your liking. Once this is done, save it as a JPEG and your joiner is complete.

Overlaying textures;

open the image you want the texture to be overlayed on in photoshop.

Then open the texture you wanted overlayed over the image in the same way.

Then drag the texture onto the picture.

once you've lined the overlay up, change the opacity and fill located in the right side bar.

(change it to your liking and then save it.)

Boarders;

Open the image and then select the rectangular marquee tool and create a boarder.

then click select and then inverse.

Then click the mask button.

then select filter - blur - Gaussian blur and set it to roughly 10.

then click filter and then click filter gallery.

Then go into brush strokes and choose

(Then press ok)

Then, press Q on the keyboard and then inverse it again.

Then press CTRL and J. This will create another layer.

Then click the new layer button at the bottom of the right hand corner.

Then drag layer two between the background image and the layer one.

Then choose the colour you wanted your boarder.

Select the paint bucket tool and click on the image.

Then once you like the colour and the look of your boarder, save and its done. You can also experiment with the different styles of boarders
