Travel;
The first image I took was outside on a rainy day. However, I do like the fact that the lighting makes the image dull as when an aeroplane is actually flying, you cant see it crystal clear due to the amount of clouds surrounding it. The second image was with an artificial light from my camera just so the colours pop more, as when going to the beach, its often associated with a variety of colours; beach balls, spade and buckets, sunsets ect. Both pictures are shot from an angle purely because of the fact I wanted to get as much of the image in as possible. Although the second image isn't actually transportation, its still a form of travel. Neither a bus, car or plane is able to travel without directions and the second picture is a direction. Its subtle but also fits the brief.
Art;
The first image was shot indoor next to a window so the lighting was bright. Because of this I decided to just stick with the natural light as I didn't want to was the colours out with adding artificial as well. As the photograph was hung on a wall and the image itself was a landscape piecer, I just decided to shoot face on as I didn't want to get the white of the wall in with the image. I wanted it to be a pictured filled with nothing but colour. I chose to pair it with the image of the graffiti octopus as the detail in the first picture is very similar to the movement of the octopus' legs. Moving onto the second image, the composition was very much similar to the first image as there wasn't exactly a massive variety to shoot this image from. However, I could improve this image by re-shooting further back so I capture a lot more of the image.
Industrial;
The first image was shot at the start of the windows as I wanted to create the effect of elongation. The image was shot inside two walls and a roof which meant there wasn't a lot of light being exposed to the place besides the window here. I think this was more of a positive than a negative as I like how silhouetted everything else is, besides the sky. I makes the whites of the clouds and the blue of the sky stand out considerably more than it would if i added an artificial light. The second image was shot from the ground as I didn't want to capture the raindrops on the window if I decided to shoot higher. But, i do like the effect of scale this image has. The scale of the crane against the building, but also the branches in the left hand corner. Trees are automatically associated with being tall and large so, in my opinion, I think it has a good effect on the overall image. However, the lighting is far too dark for me. I used artificial lighting but as it was such a dull day and the objects were so high up, it didn't exactly make a difference. I could change the lighting by re-shooting on a much more clear day.
Documentary;
I wanted to use this images as documentary as when I think of documentary, the first thing that comes to mind is the history. Victoria was Queen of England until 1876 which is a part of history and a lot of documentaries have been made. I chose to link the room in with this particular time because I know there was a lot of division in classes. This living room would have belonged to someone high class and the Queen, is obviously the highest class. This is also portrayed through the angle I shot as the statue of Victoria looks very high, even higher than the trees.
Fashion;
Again, the first image location was inside and the second image was shot outside. The first image I thought fit perfectly into the category of fashion as it is a close up shot of fabric. The light for this image was artificial however, I don't particularly like the look of it as it isn't in focus. Although it does tie into the brief and the second image very well. The second image was shot with natural light and artificial as I wanted the red to really stand out. All in all I think the diptych could be improved by re-shooting the first image just so it is in focus.
Historical;
The first image was first shot with artificial light however, because the black was very washed out, I decided to re-take the image with just natural light. This time the writing stood out a lot better. I decided to shoot face on as I actually wanted just the black writing of the history in the frame however, I captured a little bit of the green leaves but I think the pop of colour looks nice. The second image again was shot face on using the artificial light that the museum already had, as I just wanted the full frame to be captured. I chose to have the lining of the glass to be in the fame because I think the old rusted look adds a little more character to the image and shows even more of the historical being of the book.
