What is a flip book?

A flip book is a series of photographs that are linked together are put in order one after another so that when they're rapidly flipped, it creates movement. The most common flip books are usually animation, when an artist draws the same thing again and again but with a slight movement of the object. However, there is a lot of digital ones like the one above.
How do you make an animation flip book?

Animation flipbooks can either be very simple; using one or two drawings, or it can be more complicated; using a lot more drawings. If you want a more effective flipbook with a lot of movement in it, the common amount of pictures to use is 30 or more, depending how big the movement is. But, when using the more simpler way, you have to have the beginning picture of the middle of a movement for it to work. For example, the flip book on the left is a movement of blowing a candle out, however, the first page is of the man who has already taken in the breathe, therefore the secon dpage isn't much of a dramatic change from the first movement so, it still has the same effect as the second flipbook, with many more drawings.
How do you make a digital flip book?

Digital flip books are commonly known as 'gifs.' However, the whole idea of a gif actually came from flipbooks. The only difference is that the pictures came from a video and the whole point of it is recreating the video but in a very small space of time. Then when played, creates the flip book effect.
